Gopal Italia Raises Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue Over Transmission Line Projects in Assembly

Gopal Italia raises concerns in Gujarat Assembly over farmers’ land right

by Tamanna

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gopal Italia has once again brought attention to the Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue, raising serious concerns over land acquisition, transmission line projects, and alleged misuse of authority by private companies in rural Gujarat.

During his statement, Italia said the Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue is not a political matter but a fundamental question of justice, compensation, and protection of agricultural land. He claimed that farmers across several districts are facing pressure during infrastructure projects without proper legal safeguards.

Farmers protest over land and transmission projects

Highlighting the Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue, Italia referred to ongoing protests and tractor rallies organized by farmers in different parts of the state. He alleged that private companies involved in electricity transmission projects are entering farmlands with police support, which farmers are calling unfair and coercive.

He said farmers themselves have come forward to raise their voice, and their demands are centered around fair compensation and legal protection.

Demand for stronger legal framework

Raising the Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue, the MLA demanded a proper legal framework instead of reliance on circular-based compensation systems. He argued that farmers should have the right to file objections before any installation of transmission towers on their land.

He also stressed that compensation must include not only land value but also future economic losses, reduction in land usability, and long-term impact on agriculture.

Political reactions and Assembly remarks

On the Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue, Italia questioned opposition parties about their role in raising the matter in the Assembly. He said the issue should not be turned into political conflict but should remain focused on farmers’ welfare and rights.

He also clarified that although he supported farmers’ tractor protests, he chose not to participate directly to avoid politicizing the movement.

Gopal Italia said he will continue to raise the Gujarat Farmers’ Rights Issue in the Gujarat Assembly until proper legal protections are ensured. He emphasized that farmers’ rights, fair compensation, and transparent policies are essential for balanced development in the state.
