Tyre-Burning Factory in Delhi Sparks Pollution, Govt Accused of Inaction

AAP leader alleges illegal tyre-burning unit operating in Mundka area, calls out administrative failure

Saurabh Bhardwaj exposes govt failure as tyre-burning factory in Mundka UER-2 causes severe pollution, raising environmental concerns in Delhi.

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj on Friday shared a video alleging that an illegal unit in Mundka, UER-2 is burning tyres to produce low-grade oil, creating massive pollution in the surrounding area. The video shows dense black smoke rising from a factory-like structure, prompting fresh concerns over Delhi’s deteriorating air quality.

In his post, Bhardwaj stated that “the media won’t report this” and claimed that a factory in Mundka UER-2 has been openly burning tyres. He further alleged that long-standing political and administrative issues have made it difficult for current authorities to take action, referencing previous governments in his criticism.

The video has since triggered widespread debate on social media, especially at a time when Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remains in the ‘severe’ category. Environmental experts note that tyre burning releases toxic chemicals, significantly worsening smog levels and posing serious health risks such as respiratory illnesses.

As of now, neither the Delhi government nor central authorities have issued an official statement about the specific unit shown in the video. Pollution control agencies have also not confirmed whether a probe or action has been initiated at the Mundka UER-2 site.

Residents in several outer Delhi areas, including Mundka, have often complained about illegal industrial activities and waste-burning practices contributing to persistent pollution. Bhardwaj’s video has once again spotlighted these long-standing concerns.

The post continues to gain traction online, adding pressure on enforcement bodies to investigate and respond to the claims made in the video.
