New Delhi:  The Manish Sisodia letter to Justice Swarnkanta Sharma has triggered fresh political and legal debate after senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote to the Delhi High Court judge stating that he will not be represented by any lawyer in the ongoing excise policy case.

The Manish Sisodia letter to Justice Swarnkanta Sharma comes shortly after a similar communication from AAP national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, adding to the controversy surrounding the case proceedings.

Sisodia’s Statement in the Letter

In the Manish Sisodia letter to Justice Swarnkanta Sharma, Sisodia reportedly stated that no lawyer will appear on his behalf in the excise policy case and expressed a lack of trust in receiving justice.

According to party sources, the Manish Sisodia letter to Justice Swarnkanta Sharma mentions that he now considers “Satyagraha” as the only remaining option available to him.

He further wrote that the matter has reached a point where he does not expect fair judicial relief, expressing deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing legal process.

Reference to Kejriwal’s Earlier Letter

The Manish Sisodia letter to Justice Swarnkanta Sharma follows an earlier letter by Arvind Kejriwal, in which he also raised concerns over judicial proceedings and stated that he would follow the path of Satyagraha inspired by Mahatma Gandhi.

Kejriwal had also indicated his intention to approach the Supreme Court while expressing disappointment with the current course of the case.

Background of the Case

The Manish Sisodia letter to Justice Swarnkanta Sharma is linked to the Delhi excise policy 2021–22 case, which involves allegations of irregularities and preferential treatment in policy implementation.

The case is being investigated by both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Both Sisodia and Kejriwal are named as accused in the matter.

Although the Rouse Avenue Court had earlier discharged all accused citing lack of evidence, the CBI challenged the decision in the Delhi High Court, where the case is currently under consideration.
