Delhi govt denies AAP claims that teachers were assigned to count stray dogs; political spat heats up with accusations of fake news and misinformation.
The Delhi administration and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got into a heated argument, especially about the problem of stray dogs. While AAP leaders stepped up their accusations that teachers were being asked to count stray dogs, the government accused the party of promoting “falsehood and fake propaganda” against it.
Following a Supreme Court ruling in the matter last month, the administration clarified on Monday that it had not given instructors any official responsibility for counting stray dogs. This was in response to concerns raised by a portion of the teachers’ associations that they might be enlisted to perform non-administrative tasks, such as counting stray dogs. The government rejected it as “misinformation” in an official statement.
However, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal charged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government with “ruining schools” and “insulting teachers” in a post on X on Tuesday.
Will educators in Delhi’s public schools instruct students, or will they be counting dogs on the streets? This directive from the Delhi administration of the BJP reveals their objectives and way of thinking. “Education is not even a problem for the BJP,” he declared.
Later, at a press conference, AAP leader and MLA Sanjeev Jha asserted that teachers were given the responsibility of keeping an eye on and tallying stray dogs by an order issued on November 20 by the government’s directorate of education.
In addition to the announcement, the North-West District’s District Development Officer has released a comprehensive list of instructors assigned to duty. He continued, “It makes it very clear that this information is for the nodal officials dealing with stray dog concerns. To be clear, no specific task, like counting stray dogs, is mentioned in the order.

At a press conference earlier, Delhi’s education minister Ashish Sood claimed that the AAP was “disturbing the social fabric of the city” because it was “unable to digest its losses in the Assembly elections.”
A planned social media campaign claimed that teachers in Delhi were sent out to count stray dogs. This assertion is wholly untrue. If the Aam Aadmi Party has a circular or instruction asking teachers to count dogs, I publicly challenge them to make it public right away. If not, the Aam Aadmi Party needs to publicly apologize to Delhi residents for disseminating false information, he continued.
He claimed that for the last week, the party has made similar false accusations regarding teacher exams administered by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) and other matters. According to Sood, the AAP had posted bogus information on X around Christmas, saying that the Delhi government had taken action against students at schools who were dressed as Santa Claus.
He charged that the AAP was spreading “falsehoods” about the suspension of Delhi’s tehsildars and sub-registrars in an effort to cause “administrative chaos.”Why does the Aam Aadmi Party love corrupt people so much? “Why is the Aam Aadmi Party supporting corrupt officials when the government is taking action against corruption? These offices operated with open corruption during the AAP regime,” he continued. This comes one day after the chief minister’s office announced that Kapashera’s sub-registrar had been suspended due to corruption-related charges.
This sparked yet another argument. In a post on X, AAP Delhi chief Saurabha Bhardwaj stated that the elected government of Delhi does not have the authority to suspend any officers. However, government officials quickly clarified that only issues involving senior officers are handled by the National Capital Civil Service Authority (NCCSA), with the rest falling under the government’s jurisdiction.
