Delhi Govt, led by CM Rekha Gupta, approves 431 village development projects worth over ₹1,000 crore to upgrade basic amenities in rural areas.

The Delhi government is stepping up efforts to upgrade basic amenities in Delhi’s villages during the current Sewa Pakhwada (Service Fortnight). 81 development initiatives under the Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan (Delhi Village Upliftment Campaign) were introduced on Wednesday.

The Delhi Rural Development Board, presided over by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approved 431 projects totaling more than Rs 1,000 crore during its inaugural meeting on Thursday. Roads, drainage, drinking water, sanitation, water bodies, community centers, parks, sports fields, and cremation sites are among the vital infra structure that will be the focus of these initiatives.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta placed a strong emphasis on speeding up village development in all 30 assembly and four parliamentary constituencies. She emphasized the significance of balanced rural and urban development and gave her word that there will be adequate funding for village development.

To maintain openness, board members were tasked with supervising various Lok Sabha constituencies, and officials were directed to provide comprehensive lists of projects by assembly constituency for approval and implementation.

Development Minister Kapil Mishra, Vice-Chairman Gajendra Singh Daral, Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, and representatives from the relevant departments attended the meeting.

Along with the supply of drinking water services, the projects also include the building and maintenance of roads, the development of ponds and other water bodies, village chaupals, community halls, playgrounds, gymnasiums, libraries, streetlights, and drainage systems.

Under the Delhi Gramodaya Abhiyan, this project seeks to speed up rural development and greatly improve the standard of living in Delhi’s villages.
