New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Atishi Marlena on Tuesday strongly criticized the Rekha Gupta-led government, with Atishi Slams Delhi Government becoming a key political flashpoint over its unfulfilled poll promises and recent parliamentary developments.
She questioned the delay in implementing the ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance scheme for women and also called the acceptance of the merger of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs with the BJP “unconstitutional.”
Atishi Slams Delhi Government Over Women Scheme Delay
Addressing a press conference, Atishi said that ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP had promised that women would start receiving ₹2,500 per month from March 8, 2025.
As part of the Atishi Slams Delhi Government remarks, she alleged that women were instructed to link their mobile numbers with bank accounts and were assured of SMS confirmations once the money was credited. However, she said the promise remains unfulfilled even after March 8, 2026.

She further claimed that the Atishi Slams Delhi Government issue reflects how women voters were given assurances that have not been delivered, despite repeated deadlines.
Public Service Concerns Raised
Continuing her attack, Atishi said that women in Delhi are facing difficulties in accessing public services. She alleged that users who earlier benefited from free DTC bus travel are now facing long queues for pink cards.

She also claimed that access to free medicines, tests, and treatment facilities has become more difficult. The Atishi Slams Delhi Government statement highlighted what she described as growing inconvenience for women in the capital.
Atishi Slams Delhi Government on MP Merger Decision
On the merger of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs with the BJP, Atishi said the decision is unconstitutional and violates anti-defection laws.
As part of the Atishi Slams Delhi Government statement, she argued that the Constitution requires a party-level merger supported by at least two-thirds of the legislative party, not just individual MPs joining another party.
She added that there is no legal provision allowing such a partial merger without the original party’s consent.
AAP’s Stand
AAP leaders have also maintained that the move violates constitutional provisions and have announced that they will challenge it through legal and constitutional means.
