Ankush Narang Raises MCD School Conversion Issue Over 48 School Transformations

AAP leader Ankush Narang raises concerns over MCD school conversion issue, alleging 48 schools were turned into health centres, impacting education in Delhi.

Aam Aadmi Party leader and MCD Leader of Opposition Ankush Narang has strongly criticized the BJP-led municipal administration over what he described as a growing MCD school conversion issue in Delhi. In a press statement, Narang alleged that the “four-engine government” has started repurposing municipal school buildings for non-educational purposes.

He claimed that around 48 MCD schools have been converted into “Ayushman Arogya Mandirs,” calling it a serious MCD school conversion issue that directly violates High Court orders stating that school land must only be used for educational activities. According to him, this MCD school conversion issue raises concerns about the future of public education in the capital.

Narang further alleged that instead of strengthening the education system, the administration is pushing for school mergers and closures, which he termed another layer of the MCD school conversion issue affecting students from poor and middle-class families. He warned that such steps could reduce access to quality education for thousands of children.

He also accused the education department of acting under political pressure to benefit higher authorities, further intensifying the MCD school conversion issue. He claimed that these decisions are being made without considering the impact on students’ learning and school infrastructure.

AAP has demanded immediate clarification and reversal of the policy, stating that the MCD school conversion issue is not just an administrative change but a serious concern for Delhi’s education system. The party has urged authorities to prioritize education over restructuring measures that could harm students’ future.
