Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visits Delhi for meetings with PM Modi and NDA leaders; cabinet expansion, son Nishant’s political entry, and 2026 elections on agenda.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar left on a two-day visit to the nation’s capital, where he is anticipated to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior NDA leaders.
This will be Kumar’s first trip to Delhi since he was sworn in for a record fifth straight term almost a month ago, according to those close to the JD(U) leader.
Modi had previously come to Patna to attend the swearing-in ceremony, as did regional leaders including Yogi Adityanath, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Devendra Fadnavis, as well as Cabinet colleagues Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh.
According to sources, one of the main items on the agenda will probably be the extension of the Bihar cabinet, and the procedure is anticipated to happen after Makar Sankranti. Nitin Nabin, who just resigned from the state cabinet after being named BJP national working president, will also need to be replaced.

The much-discussed entry into politics of Nishant, the sole son of the state’s longest-serving chief minister, is another topic that might be brought up.
Sanjay Kumar Jha, the working president of the JD(U) and a close adviser to Kumar, recently stated that there was considerable support inside the party for Nishant to enter the public eye. He also expressed hope that the 47-year-old, who has mostly avoided politics, would make a decision.
The talks may also touch on the 2026 elections for a few seats in the Rajya Sabha and the Bihar Legislative Council. According to reports, the NDA is anticipated to be in a strong position to win multiple seats at the expense of a weakened opposition due to its huge majority in the Assembly.
