Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14, breaks records with a 36-ball century in Vijay Hazare Trophy, becoming India’s youngest List A centurion.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old batting prodigy, made history in the Vijay Hazare Trophy opener between Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh by overcoming the agony of losing to Pakistan in the Under-19 Asia Cup final. Suryavanshi, who did not do well for India in the U19 Asia Cup final, went into overdrive right away and destroyed bowlers from Arunachal Pradesh across the park on Wednesday. Suryavanshi used 10 fours and 8 sixes to attain the triple-digit score in just 36 balls. With this accomplishment, he now ranks second among Indians in List A cricket for the fastest hundreds. Suryavanshi also made history by becoming the youngest player to reach a century in men’s List A cricket at the age of 14 years, 272 days.
Anmolpreet Singh, who scored the fastest century in List A cricket for Punjab versus Arunachal Pradesh during the 2024–2025 season, holds the record. Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk holds the world record after hitting a century off 29 balls for South Australia against Tasmania in 2023–2024. Then, Suryavanshi broke the world record set by South Africa great AB de Villiers (64 balls) by scoring 150 in just 54 deliveries, attaining the milestone in the fastest amount of time.
