PM Modi Meets Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra and Himani Mor in New Delhi

Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra and wife Himani met PM Modi for a warm discussion at 7 LKM.

PM Modi meets Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra and his wife Himani Mor at 7 LKM, discussing sports, achievements and future goals.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold champion in javelin throwing, and his wife, Himani Mor.

This meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. PM Modi posted pictures from the meeting to his X account (@narendramodi). He said the following in the caption:

“Earlier today, I saw Neeraj Chopra and his spouse, Himani Mor, at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. We had a wonderful conversation about a variety of topics, including sports, of course.

At the Tokyo 2021 Olympics (during the postponed 2020 Olympics), Neeraj Chopra earned India’s first-ever gold medal in track and field in the Men’s Javelin Throw competition.

Additionally, this was India’s first Olympic gold medal since 2008, when the Abhinav Bindra won the Men’s 10m Air Rifle Shooting title in Beijing.

Neeraj Chopra received the title of Lieutenant Colonel earlier this year after winning the silver medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

On August 26, 2016, he enlisted in the Indian Army as a Naib Subedar. In 2021, he was promoted to Subedar, and in 2022, he was made a Subedar Major.
Major Javelin Throw Accolades for Neeraj Chopra

As previously stated, Neeraj Chopra was the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in track and field.

He went on to become the first Indian to win a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in 2023.

In addition to winning the gold medal at the Asian Games twice, he was the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships champion and the 2018 Commonwealth Games champion.

In addition, Neeraj became the first Indian track and field athlete to establish a world record at the age of just 18.
