Nandre Burger has been handed a sanction by the Board of Control for Cricket in India following Rajasthan Royals’ victory over Lucknow Super Giants on April 22. The Nandre Burger IPL penalty comes after a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct during the match.

As part of the Nandre Burger IPL penalty, the South African pacer has been fined 10 percent of his match fee. He has also received one demerit point for the Level 1 offence.

According to the BCCI, the Nandre Burger IPL penalty was issued under the IPL Code of Conduct, which covers minor on-field disciplinary issues such as excessive appealing, dissent against umpire decisions, or inappropriate gestures. Burger admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

Nandre Burger IPL Penalty Fails to Overshadow Match-Winning Spell in Rajasthan Royals’ Victory

Despite the Nandre Burger IPL penalty, his on-field performance remained a key highlight of the match. He delivered an impressive spell, finishing with figures of 2/27 and playing a crucial role in Rajasthan Royals’ 40-run win.

Burger dismissed Rishabh Pant for a duck and also removed Mitchell Marsh, who scored 55 and posed the biggest threat for Lucknow Super Giants during the chase.

The Nandre Burger IPL penalty adds to a series of minor disciplinary issues involving Rajasthan Royals this week. Team manager Romi Bhinder was earlier fined ₹1 lakh and warned for violating anti-corruption protocols by using a mobile phone in the dugout during a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Currently placed among the top teams in the standings, Rajasthan Royals will be keen to avoid further off-field distractions. While the Nandre Burger IPL penalty is a minor setback, the team remains focused on maintaining momentum as the tournament heads into its crucial phase.
