BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla dismissed rumors of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring after the IND vs AUS ODIs, calling the claims “absolutely wrong” and praising their value to the team.

In the wake of rumors that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma may retire following the forthcoming IND vs AUS ODI series, the BCCI vice president has issued a positive update.

India is scheduled to participate in a three-match ODI series against Australia in a few days, with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma taking the field.

Although a significant number of fans are celebrating the return of these icons, others are concerned that this may be their final opportunity to protect the Men in Blue. The speculation has been particularly exacerbated following the replacement of Rohit Sharma with Shubman Gill as captain.

Rajeev Shukla disclosed the following regarding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s retirement subsequent to the IND vs AUS ODI series during an interview  “In terms of this being their final series, it is not the case.” I believe that we should never engage in these matters. The athletes are responsible for determining the appropriate time to retire. Saying that this would be their final series is entirely inaccurate.

He described the incorporation of the two modern-era greats as highly advantageous for India:

“This is highly advantageous for us, as both of them are exceptional batsmen. I am confident that we will be able to defeat Australia in their presence.”
