Manchester: India all-rounder Axar Patel is on the verge of creating history in the second T20I against England at Old Trafford. The left-arm spinner currently has 99 wickets in T20 Internationals, and one more dismissal will take his tally of Axar Patel T20I Wickets to the coveted 100-mark, making him the first Indian spinner to achieve the feat.

Since making his debut against Zimbabwe in 2015, Axar has grown into one of India’s most reliable performers in white-ball cricket. While opportunities were limited during the early stages of his international career, he has cemented his place in the squad over the last few years through consistent performances with both bat and ball.

Axar Patel Set to Lead Indian Spinners’ List

The impressive tally of Axar Patel T20I Wickets already places him at the top among Indian spinners in the shortest format. He currently leads Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 96 wickets, and Kuldeep Yadav, who has claimed 95 wickets in T20 Internationals.

A century of wickets would further strengthen Axar’s reputation as one of India’s most effective T20 bowlers and highlight his remarkable rise in international cricket.

One Wicket Away from Joining Elite Company

Only three Indian bowlers have crossed the 100-wicket milestone in T20Is so far. Arshdeep Singh leads the charts with 131 wickets, followed by Jasprit Bumrah with 121 and Hardik Pandya with 114.

If he reaches the landmark in Manchester, the achievement of 100 Axar Patel T20I Wickets will place him alongside some of India’s most successful bowlers and establish a new benchmark for Indian spinners.

Rain Denied Him the Record in First T20I

Axar came close to reaching the milestone in the opening T20I against England. However, rain interrupted the match and prevented India from bowling in the second innings, leaving the spinner stranded on 99 wickets.

Prior to the England series, Axar featured in the T20I series against Ireland, where he picked up two wickets in the opening game. With favorable conditions expected at Old Trafford, fans will be eager to see the tally of Axar Patel T20I Wickets reach three figures.

India Likely to Retain Winning Combination

India are expected to field an unchanged playing XI for the second T20I. Bowling coach Morne Morkel has hinted that young prospect Vaibhav Sooryavanshi may have to wait longer for his debut, indicating that the team management is likely to stick with the same combination.

As India look to extend their momentum against England, the spotlight will firmly remain on Axar Patel. With history just one wicket away, the story of Axar Patel T20I Wickets could gain a memorable new chapter in Manchester.
