Indian Pacer Akashdeep’s dream purchase of new Toyota Fortuner has quickly turned into a legal headache.
Just days after celebrating the delivery of his new black Toyota Fortuner with Family, the Uttar Pradesh transport Department had issued him a notice for allegedly using the vehicle without a mandatory High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). The Chinhat-based dealer, M/s Sunny Motors, which sold him the car, has been suspended for one month for delivering it without completing the registration process. Authorities allege the dealership handed over the SUV in violation of Rule 44 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and have given them 14 days to explain.
The notice came after Akash Deep shared an Instagram post with the caption: “Dream delivered. Keys received. With the ones who matter the most,” standing next to the top-end version of the Fortuner worth over ₹62 lakh. The cheer was short-lived, for officials found that road tax was unpaid, registration was incomplete, and the HSRP was absent, although the vehicle was in public use. He has now been prohibited from further driving the vehicle until he meets the conditions of law, including fitting the Third Registration Mark, are met- failure to comply could lead to seizure and prosecution.
Despite the Off-Field trouble, the 27-year-old Pacer’s cricketing form remains undented. Fresh from India’s 2-2 series draw vs England, he emerged as a standout performer with 13 wickets.
His knock of 66 as a night-watchman at The Oval further cemented his rising reputation-proving that while paperwork may have tripped him up, his game on the field remains sharp.
