The Executive Board of Commonwealth Sport has chosen Ahmedabad to host the 24th Commonwealth Games, which will also be the 100th anniversary of this great sporting event. This is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing support and visionary approach to promoting a sports culture.

India has been proposed to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will be a big boost for the country’s sports scene. Ahmedabad, Gujarat, has been suggested as the host city for the Centenary Edition of the Games, according to an official press release.

The Executive Board meeting of Commonwealth Sport made the announcement. Now the recommendation will be put in front of the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly, which will meet in November 2025.

The recommendation for India to host the 24th Commonwealth Games has been made in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of sports in India and find and nurture talented athletes through the Khelo India initiative.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated everyone in the country on this historic event and said that it was the outcome of Prime Minister Modi’s hard work. He went on to say that India has earned this honor by building world-class sports facilities and training athletes who can compete on a global scale.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel called it “a truly proud moment for Gujarat and India.” He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and applauded the Commonwealth Sport Executive Board’s decision to choose Ahmedabad as the host city for the 24th Commonwealth Games.

This historic event happens at the same time as the 100th anniversary of the Commonwealth Sport Movement. The 2030 Games will show how the 74 Commonwealth member nations and territories have worked together and shared values in sports for a hundred years.

P T Usha, President of the Commonwealth Games Association of India, commented on the announcement, “The Centenary Commonwealth Games in Amdavad will be Games for the Future: built on sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation.” This is a chance to make the Commonwealth Sport Movement stronger and leave a legacy that goes beyond India’s borders.
