Former cricketer Kris Srikkanth says Shubman Gill will perform better in the Asia Cup 2025 clash between India and Pakistan.

Delhi:  The scene is set for India and Pakistan to play another thrilling match. On September 21, the two teams will play one another in the tournament’s Super Four stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Notably, India easily defeated Pakistan earlier in the tournament, and they will be hoping for more of the same in the next match.

Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth took center stage as the squad prepared to face Pakistan in the Super Four phases of the competition and backed opener Shubman Gill to get back to his best.

So far at the Asia Cup, Gill has failed to score much, with poor scores in each of the three games. Srikkanth, however, gave the star batter some guidance and predicted that he will do well in the upcoming game.

“It is crucial that Shubman Gill regain his form. In this game (against Pakistan), I believe he will score. In addition to becoming the Indian Test captain, he is also expected to be the all-format captain in the future. He plays early and is constantly bothered by the ball coming in. I would advise him to play more straight. In a video on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth stated, “He should play the off drive more until he gets set, instead of cover driving.”

Gill’s position in the T20I team was discussed by Srikkanth.

Additionally, Kris Srikkanth shared his thoughts on whether Shubman Gill’s spot in the T20I squad would be in doubt given his Asia Cup performance thus far. The former cricket player believed his position was certain because he was the vice captain.

He is certain just by virtue of being appointed vice captain. He wasn’t part of my pre-Asia Cup predicted 15-man squad. Actually, few people anticipated that he would be in the 15. However, they are working to elevate him to the position of all-format captain in the future after appointing him as vice-captain. since he also had a successful IPL season,” Srikkanth stated.
