Men’s and women’s teams will compete, with top performers advancing to the 2026 ITTF World Table Tennis Team Championships in London.
The 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025 will be held in Odisha for the first time. The competition will take place in the Athletics Center at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar from October 11 to October 15, 2025. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), Odisha Table Tennis Association, and the Sports & Youth Services Department of the Government of Odisha are all supporting the joint organization of the event.
The competition will involve nearly 500 players and support personnel from 22 different countries, including Bangladesh, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau-China, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau-China, and China.
There will be competition for both men’s and women’s teams. The top-performing teams will advance to the London-based ITTF World Table Tennis Team Championships in 2026.
“It is a matter of pride and honor that Odisha is hosting the Asian Table Tennis Team Championships for the very first time,” Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj stated during a news conference held at Kalinga Stadium today. From top-notch facilities to player accommodations, hospitality, and security, the Sports and Youth Services Department is making sure everything is ready for the event to run smoothly.”

He added that in addition to this international competition, Odisha will hold the 40th National Junior Athletics Championships from October 10–14, 2025, at Kalinga Stadium, and the ITF Masters 100 Tennis Tournament from October 11–15, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.
“Our dedication to sports and athletes is demonstrated by the simultaneous hosting of three national and international athletic events. Odisha and the nation’s table tennis ability would be encouraged by the Asian Table Tennis Team Championships,” Minister Suraj continued.
According to Kamlesh Mehta, president of the Table Tennis Federation of India, “Odisha has carved out a special place for itself in sports excellence at the international level.” He also expressed confidence that Odisha would successfully host the event.
Dr. Yeddula Vijay, Director, Sports & Youth Services Department, Odisha; N. Ganesan, Tournament Director; and Rabindra Parida, Secretary, Odisha Table Tennis Association, also attended the news conference.
