Kumari Selja Refutes Speculations of Joining BJP, Confident of Congress’ Victory in Haryana

Chandigarh, September 28, 2023: Senior Congress leader Kumari Selja has firmly denied recent rumors suggesting that she may be switching sides to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Selja dismissed the speculation as baseless and reaffirmed her commitment to the Congress party. The veteran politician, who has been a prominent figure in Haryana politics for decades, declared that Congress is poised to return to power with an absolute majority in the upcoming state elections.

In response to circulating rumors that hinted at her possible defection to the BJP, Selja clarified that she remains loyal to the Congress, a party she has served throughout her political career. “I want to make it clear that these rumors are entirely false. I have no intention of joining the BJP, and I stand by my party, the Congress, which has always worked for the welfare of the people,” she said.

Dismissing Political Gossip

The rumors of Selja’s alleged move to the BJP surfaced in political circles over the past few weeks, fueling speculation about her future in the Congress party. However, Selja categorically denied any such plans, accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation to create confusion ahead of the elections. “Such baseless rumors are being floated by people who are desperate to tarnish my image and create uncertainty within the party. Let me assure everyone that I am, and will remain, with the Congress,” she reiterated.

Selja, who has served in various key positions within the party and the government, further emphasized that her focus is on strengthening the Congress and ensuring its victory in Haryana. She added that the party is united and prepared to take on the ruling BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.

Confident in Congress’ Return to Power

Kumari Selja expressed her confidence in Congress’ chances of winning the forthcoming Haryana elections, asserting that the people of the state are disillusioned with the current BJP-led government. “The people of Haryana are fed up with the misgovernance, rising unemployment, and lack of development under the BJP. The time has come for a change, and I am confident that Congress will return to power with a decisive majority,” she said.

She further pointed out that Congress has a long history of serving the people of Haryana and that its pro-people policies will resonate with voters. “We have always prioritized the needs of the common man, be it in terms of education, healthcare, or employment. The people of Haryana recognize this, and they will choose Congress in the upcoming elections,” Selja stated.

BJP’s Failures in Focus

During the press conference, Kumari Selja was critical of the BJP’s governance in Haryana, listing various areas where the state government had failed to deliver on its promises. She highlighted issues such as deteriorating law and order, insufficient agricultural reforms, and the lack of job opportunities for the youth as key reasons for public dissatisfaction.

“The BJP government has failed the people of Haryana on multiple fronts. Farmers are struggling, the youth are unemployed, and the law and order situation is worsening by the day. It is clear that the people want change, and Congress is ready to deliver on that,” she added.

Strong Support Within Congress

Selja also touched on the unity within the Congress party in Haryana, stating that the party is working in coordination to ensure a strong performance in the elections. “There is no infighting within the Congress. We are all working towards a common goal—to bring Congress back to power in Haryana and serve the people better,” she affirmed.

Kumari Selja’s statement comes at a time when political alliances and defections are making headlines in Haryana, with several leaders shifting their loyalties ahead of the polls. However, by refuting the rumors of her joining the BJP, Selja has reiterated her steadfast allegiance to Congress, boosting the morale of party workers across the state.

As the Haryana elections approach, Kumari Selja’s reaffirmation of her loyalty to Congress and her confidence in the party’s victory signal a crucial development in the state’s political landscape.
