Punjab Steps Up: Releases Extra Water to Rajasthan for Soldiers’ Needs
In a show of national solidarity, Punjab has answered Rajasthan’s urgent call by releasing additional water for military use along the border. The gesture comes amid heightened military presence in Rajasthan, underscoring the spirit of unity and sacrifice shared between Indian states in times of national need.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made the announcement on Saturday, emphasizing that Punjab’s commitment to the nation goes far beyond water.

“For our brave soldiers, Punjabis are ready to give blood as well,” Mann declared, striking an emotional chord while reaffirming Punjab’s readiness to support national defense.
The Rajasthan government had requested an increased share from Punjab’s water quota to meet the military’s growing logistical needs. Without hesitation, CM Mann directed officials to immediately release the required volume of water, recognizing that national interest must override regional limitations.
“Punjab Will Never Back Off When It Comes to the Nation”
CM Mann didn’t mince words in reinforcing Punjab’s patriotic legacy.
“Whenever national interests are involved, Punjab never takes a backseat,” he said, adding that unity, integrity, and sovereignty are values the state holds dear.
Known for its historical role in India’s freedom struggle and as the land of countless soldiers, Punjab’s response comes as no surprise to many. Yet, the gesture has resonated deeply, especially amid growing nationalistic sentiments during tense times.
More Than Just a Gesture
This isn’t just about water—it’s about the message it sends. In releasing this critical resource, Punjab is saying loud and clear: when the country calls, we answer—no matter the cost.
The move has been widely appreciated by defense experts and civil society alike, highlighting the importance of inter-state cooperation, especially during national emergencies.
