Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a significant PM Modi Three Nation Visit to Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand from July 6 to July 11, 2026. The diplomatic tour is aimed at deepening India’s strategic partnerships, boosting economic cooperation, and reinforcing the country’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.

The PM Modi Three Nation Visit begins with Indonesia, where the Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The visit comes years after India and Indonesia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2018 and follows President Prabowo’s visit to India as the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations in January 2025.

During his stay in Indonesia from July 6 to July 8, Modi is expected to discuss a wide range of issues including trade, connectivity, maritime cooperation, and cultural exchanges. He will also interact with the Indian diaspora and visit the renowned Prambanan Temple complex in Yogyakarta alongside President Prabowo, highlighting the shared cultural and civilizational links between the two nations.

Australia Leg To Focus On Defence, Trade And Technology

Following Indonesia, the PM Modi Three Nation Visit will take the Prime Minister to Melbourne, Australia, at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

The visit is expected to strengthen the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through discussions on defence cooperation, security, trade and investment, education, mobility, and emerging technologies. Sports and sports science are also expected to feature prominently in the talks.

Modi is also scheduled to engage with members of the Indian community in Australia, recognizing their role in strengthening bilateral ties. The Australian leg of the PM Modi Three Nation Visit is being viewed as an important step toward expanding cooperation in critical and emerging sectors.

New Zealand Visit To Enhance Economic And Trade Relations

The final stop of the PM Modi Three Nation Visit will be Auckland, New Zealand, where Modi will meet Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. The visit builds on the momentum created by Luxon’s visit to India in March 2025.

Discussions are expected to focus on economic engagement, trade, investment, and commercial cooperation. Both countries have been working to strengthen bilateral economic relations following the signing of a Free Trade Agreement.

The Prime Minister is also expected to address a large gathering of the Indian diaspora in New Zealand, acknowledging their contributions to the country’s economy and society. The New Zealand segment of the PM Modi Three Nation Visit is expected to further expand people-to-people ties and commercial partnerships.

Strengthening India’s Indo-Pacific Vision

The PM Modi Three Nation Visit is being seen as a major diplomatic initiative aligned with India’s Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR Vision. By engaging with key partners across the Eastern and Southern Indian Ocean regions, India aims to reinforce its commitment to a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

Officials believe the PM Modi Three Nation Visit will help deepen strategic cooperation, boost economic partnerships, and strengthen India’s position as a leading stakeholder in regional stability and development.
