by Desk

PM Modi marks Constitution Day 2025 by stressing constitutional duties, democratic values, and the nation’s path toward Viksit Bharat.

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a message to the populace on Constitution Day, urging people to fulfill their constitutional obligations, saying that doing so would “contribute meaningfully to the building of a Viksit Bharat.”

Mr. Modi highlighted the history of the “holy text that has persisted in directing the country’s development with conviction and clarity.” He also remembered that the NDA administration designated November 26 as Constitution Day in 2015.

“I came from a lowly and economically disadvantaged family, and it is the power of our Constitution that allowed me to serve as the Head of the Government continuously for more than 24 years,” he said.

“I vividly recall the first time I visited Parliament in 2014, when I touched the stairs of the greatest temple of democracy and bowed. As a sign of respect, I bowed and laid the Constitution on my forehead once more in 2019 following the election results as I visited Samvidhan Sadan’s Central Hall. Like me, many others have been empowered by our Constitution to dream and strive toward their goals.

“This year’s Constitution Day is special for many reasons,” the prime minister stated in his letter.

“It is the 150th anniversary of the birth of two remarkable individuals, Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. They both made enormous contributions to our country. India was politically united thanks to Sardar Patel’s visionary leadership. His inspiration and unwavering commitment led us to take action against Article 370 and 35(A). All of the Indian Constitution’s rights, particularly those of women and marginalized communities, are now guaranteed in Jammu & Kashmir. He stated that India’s determination to guarantee justice, dignity, and empowerment for our tribal groups is still motivated by the life of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

We also commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram this year, whose lyrics have always resonated with Indians’ collective will. We also honor Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s 350th anniversary of martyrdom, whose life and sacrifice continue to inspire us with bravery, kindness, and fortitude.

These individuals and significant occasions, according to Mr. Modi, “remind us of the primacy of our duties, something the Constitution also emphasises through a dedicated chapter on Fundamental Duties in Article 51A.”

It will be 100 years since the Constitution’s adoption in 2049. Future generations’ lives will be shaped by the policies we create, the choices we make today, and our combined efforts,” the prime minister stated, adding that citizens must constantly prioritize their responsibilities to the country.

The Prime Minister also mentioned how important it is to exercise one’s right to vote in order to strengthen democracy. He also proposed that schools and universities commemorate Constitution Day by honoring the 18th birthday of young voters.

“Our children will be devoted to democratic principles for the rest of their life if we instill in them a sense of pride and responsibility. This dedication is the cornerstone of a powerful country.
