Guwahati: Clad in a brown kurta pyjama with a warm, unguarded smile, Kunki Choudhary is making headlines as one of the most promising young candidates in Assam’s upcoming assembly elections. Representing the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) in alliance with the Indian National Congress, Kunki Choudhary’s campaign in Central Guwahati is being closely watched for its energy, fresh perspective, and grassroots connect.
Walking through local streets, she greeted voters personally, handed out pamphlets, and raised slogans of “Joi Aai Axom,” showing a rare blend of approachability and determination. Her campaign style has already created a buzz among voters seeking a break from traditional political routines.
A Battle Between Experience and Youth
Kunki Choudhary faces BJP veteran Vijay Kumar Gupta, creating a stark contrast between experience and youthful dynamism. While Gupta brings decades of political experience, Kunki Choudhary’s campaign emphasizes practical solutions to local issues such as flood and drainage management, youth skill development, women’s safety, and improved civic infrastructure.

Educational and Social Background
Born and raised in Guwahati, Kunki Choudhary completed her schooling locally before pursuing higher studies at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai. She later earned a master’s in educational leadership from University College London. Before entering politics, she worked with her family’s non-profit organization for six years, gaining experience in social development and community work.
“My mother’s family has been involved in politics in Kalimpong, West Bengal, and my grandfather was an MLA. But for me, this is a new journey,” said Kunki Choudhary.
