New Delhi: India is set to implement a fully digital immigration system with the e-Arrival Card, aimed at simplifying airport procedures and reducing long queues. Starting April 1, all foreign nationals entering India will be required to complete the online e-Arrival Card, replacing the traditional paper disembarkation forms.
Major airports, including Kempegowda International Airport and Indira Gandhi International Airport, have advised passengers to fill out the e-Arrival Card in advance to avoid delays at immigration counters.
What Is the e-Arrival Card?
The e-Arrival Card is a digital version of the paper form previously required for international travellers. It must be completed within 72 hours before arriving in India and can be submitted via:
- The official Indian visa website
- The Su-Swagatam mobile app
- Other government portals
Once submitted, a QR code is generated. Travellers must present this QR code at immigration, either on their mobile devices or as a printed copy.
