Passengers aboard an IndiGo flight returning to Delhi experienced an unexpected disruption on March 9 as the aircraft, en route from Delhi to Manchester, was forced to turn back mid-journey. Flight 6E 033 had departed from Delhi as scheduled when sudden airspace restrictions over West Asia compelled the pilot to return to the Indian capital.

Mid-Air Disruption Forces IndiGo Flight to Return to Delhi

Flight 6E 033, carrying passengers bound for the United Kingdom, faced an abrupt change in its route when parts of West Asia’s airspace were closed at short notice. With no alternative corridor available, the crew made the decision to return the IndiGo flight to Delhi, prioritizing passenger safety amid escalating regional tensions. Aviation tracking data confirmed that the aircraft turned back mid-route before resuming its journey to Delhi.

The airline further noted that several India-Europe flights have been rerouted to avoid sensitive areas, but the restrictions for flight 6E 033 were imposed while the aircraft was already in flight.

Passenger Updates and Airline Assistance

Passengers were informed mid-flight about the disruption. IndiGo is now coordinating with aviation authorities to determine when the journey can safely resume. The airline is also actively assisting affected travelers, providing updates, and ensuring a smooth rescheduling process.
