President Droupadi Murmu urges ISA members to boost solar energy innovation. India aims to become a global solar hub by 2050.

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu stated that India’s goal by 2050 is not only to accomplish its clean energy ambitions, but also to become a hub for global solar energy demand, innovation, production, and information exchange.

President Murmu addressed the eighth session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) assembly at the Bharat Mandapam here, stating that India is on track to become a worldwide solar energy powerhouse.

She emphasized the country’s accomplishments toward meeting renewable energy targets ahead of schedule and articulated a strategy for aggregating global solar demand and driving clean energy innovation.

The President stated that the ISA represents humanity’s common goal of using solar energy to promote inclusiveness, dignity, and global wealth.

She stated that solar energy is more than just power generation; it is also about empowerment and inclusive development.

President Murmu highlighted that the construction of large-scale solar systems should also safeguard the region’s natural balance, as environmental conservation is the primary reason for switching to green energy.

The President went on to say that we should work harder not only for our own countries, but for the entire world, and not just for this generation, but future generations. She expressed optimism that the Assembly’s deliberations and choices will mark a watershed moment in solar energy generation, helping to build a more inclusive and equitable world.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Consumer Affairs and New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi highlighted India’s incredible renewable energy journey, which has seen the country rise from a small participant to the world’s fourth largest in renewable energy capacity, from 81 GW in 2014 to 257 GW today.
