The IMD weather alert issued by the India Meteorological Department has brought significant updates for several parts of the country, predicting a shift in weather conditions over the next few days. According to the latest bulletin, the IMD weather alert indicates relief from intense heatwave conditions in northwestern India within the next 24 hours, although some regions will continue to experience high temperatures.

Relief Expected in Delhi-NCR and North India

As per the IMD weather alert, Delhi-NCR and surrounding regions are likely to witness thunderstorms, dust storms, and rainfall between May 28 and May 31. Wind speeds may reach 70–80 kmph, accompanied by lightning and moderate rainfall in many areas. The IMD weather alert further highlights the possibility of thundersqualls over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on May 28 and 29, bringing temporary relief from scorching heat.

Strong Winds and Hailstorm Risk in Several States

The IMD weather alert also warns of thundersqualls with wind speeds of 50–60 kmph gusting up to 70 kmph over Jammu and Kashmir on May 28 and 29. Similar conditions are expected in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and adjoining regions. In addition, isolated hailstorms are likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and parts of Uttar Pradesh, as highlighted in the IMD weather alert.

Heavy Rainfall in Other Regions

Apart from northern India, the IMD weather alert also forecasts heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning across northeast, eastern, and southern India. The weather department has advised citizens to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions.
