Persistent showers have claimed lives, damaged infrastructure and disrupted daily activities across Maharashtra, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh and the Delhi-NCR region.
Maharashtra remains one of the worst-affected states, with at least 10 people reportedly losing their lives in Palghar district since July 1. Three more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours as heavy rains continued to affect several parts of the state.

The situation caused by Heavy Monsoon Rainfall in India worsened in Maharashtra after three teenagers drowned in a water-filled quarry near Amalner in Jalgaon district.
According to police officials, the incident occurred after one teenager allegedly slipped into the quarry while attempting to take a selfie. His friends entered the water to rescue him but also drowned in the process.
Meanwhile, Mumbai continued to witness intense rainfall, prompting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to announce a scientific study into frequent tree-fall incidents during the monsoon.
The civic body will examine whether factors such as road concretisation and damage to tree roots are making trees more vulnerable during heavy rainfall. The move comes after three people, including an 11-year-old student, died in separate tree-fall incidents in Mumbai recently.
Kerala Landslide and Himachal Cloudburst Add to Concerns
The effects of Heavy Monsoon Rainfall in India were also seen in Kerala, where a landslide struck the Kalladi tunnel construction site in Meppadi Grama Panchayat of Wayanad district.
The incident claimed four lives, while rescue teams continued searching for six missing workers. Authorities launched relief and rescue operations following the disaster.
In Himachal Pradesh, a cloudburst in Kullu district caused severe damage to roads, culverts and bridges. Officials confirmed that infrastructure was affected, though no casualties were reported.

Delhi-NCR Struggles With Waterlogging and Traffic Disruptions
Heavy showers created major problems in Delhi and Gurugram, with widespread waterlogging and long traffic jams reported across several areas.
A portion of the Delhi-Jaipur highway (NH-48) near Narsinghpur collapsed, forcing authorities to close two lanes and manage traffic movement.
Gurugram Police advised companies to allow employees to work from home wherever possible to reduce congestion. Residents were also warned about continued waterlogging in low-lying areas and advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
Meteorologists have predicted more spells of heavy rain and strong winds in the coming days, increasing concerns over further disruption.
Monsoon Improves Rainfall Situation Across India
Despite the challenges, the government said that the country’s rainfall deficit has reduced to 12 per cent due to increased monsoon activity during the first week of July.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported significant rainfall in Haryana, with Gurugram recording 80 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, followed by Karnal with 78.5 mm.
Officials stated that preparations are being reviewed to handle the ongoing monsoon situation, especially in flood-prone and vulnerable regions.
