Hamad International Airport Flights Resumption from May 1 as Indian Airlines Restart Doha Services

Air India, IndiGo and Air India Express to resume flights amid fragile ceasefire and gradual regional recovery

by Tamanna

India’s leading airlines are preparing for the Hamad International Airport flights resumption starting May 1, marking a crucial step towards restoring normal air connectivity in the region after weeks of disruption due to geopolitical tensions.

The move comes nearly two months after the US-Israeli military offensive February 2026 targeting Iranian leadership and nuclear facilities, which escalated into a wider regional conflict and severely impacted aviation operations across the Middle East.

Indian Carriers to Lead Resumption Efforts

Three major Indian airlines — Air India, Air India Express, and IndiGo — are set to spearhead the Hamad International Airport flights resumption, reconnecting Doha with several key Indian cities and regional hubs.

According to the Embassy of India in Doha, these carriers will gradually resume flight services between Doha and multiple destinations across India from May 1, 2026. The embassy noted that this development is part of a broader, coordinated effort involving global aviation authorities to stabilise operations.

Caution Amid Fragile Stability

While the Hamad International Airport flights resumption signals progress, officials have cautioned that schedules may still change due to the evolving security situation. Passengers have been advised to stay in close contact with airlines for real-time updates on departures, arrivals, and booking status.

Despite its role in mediating the crisis, Qatar was significantly affected. Its airspace remained largely closed for nearly two months, with Hamad International Airport operating only limited emergency and evacuation flights since early March.

Ceasefire Opens Window for Recovery

The Hamad International Airport flights resumption has been made possible by a fragile ceasefire brokered in Islamabad in mid-April and later extended by Donald Trump. This temporary stability has allowed commercial insurers to approve the gradual return of international flight operations in the region.

As airlines cautiously resume services, the focus remains on ensuring passenger safety while rebuilding connectivity. The Hamad International Airport flights resumption is expected to play a key role in restoring travel and trade links between India and the Gulf region.
