Ex-Air Force Officer Beaten to Death Over Property Dispute in Delhi, Daughter-in-Law Arrested
New Delhi | December 30 : An ex-Air Force officer was allegedly beaten to death by his daughter-in-law following a property dispute in southwest Delhi’s Bindapur area. The shocking incident has raised concerns over rising domestic property-related crimes in the national capital.
The victim, Naresh Kumar, aged 62, served as a retired personnel of the Indian Air Force. Police officials confirmed that the accused, Geeta, aged 32, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
According to Delhi Police, the incident occurred in Mansa Ram Park under the Bindapur police station jurisdiction. Authorities received a PCR call around 10.46 am on December 27, alerting them about a possible murder at the residence.
Police teams immediately rushed to the spot following the distress call.
Victim Found Unconscious on Rooftop
When police arrived at the house, they found Naresh Kumar lying unconscious on the rooftop. He had suffered serious injuries, indicating a violent assault. His daughter-in-law Geeta informed the police that he had been beaten and was lying motionless.
The elderly man was rushed to a nearby hospital without delay. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Medical reports later confirmed that the injuries were fatal.
Following the confirmation of death, police secured the crime scene. A forensic science laboratory team and a crime investigation unit were also called for inspection. They collected physical evidence from the rooftop area to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Officials stated that preliminary findings pointed toward an internal family dispute.
Property Dispute Led to Frequent Quarrels
During questioning, police uncovered a long-standing dispute over property ownership within the family. Investigators revealed that Geeta had frequent arguments with her father-in-law regarding her share in the property.
According to police sources, tensions escalated after the death of Naresh Kumar’s wife in August this year. Since then, disputes reportedly intensified over control and division of the house.
Geeta’s husband, Parveen, works in Hyderabad and was not present during the incident. Police believe his absence may have worsened the conflict between the two.
Officials added that verbal arguments often turned aggressive, eventually leading to the fatal assault.
Murder Case Registered Under BNS
Based on evidence and witness statements, police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with murder. The accused was arrested shortly after the investigation progressed.
Senior police officials confirmed that Geeta was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is ongoing to establish the exact sequence of events and motive.
Authorities are also examining forensic reports, post-mortem findings, and digital evidence to strengthen the case.
Police stated that additional family members may be questioned if required.
