Chandigarh, November 28: Punjab Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains today trashed the allegations levelled against him by an MLA of Congress party regarding not meeting the leaders of various unions and issues pertaining to mining. The Minister also dared the opposition leaders to furnish evidence regarding mining allegations as he was ready to face any investigation.
Rubbishing the accusations made by the opposition Legislature, the Minister reminded him that the Congress Party Government started the process for the recruitment of 1158 college teachers at the last moment when the model code of conduct was being enforced. He pointed out that the Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar had written a dicent note mentioning to stop the recruitment process. Mr. Bains said that despite this, the Congress government countined with the recruitment process by going against the rules, which was rejected by the High Court. In its order, the High Court stated it was fact that many lives will be affected by the court’s decision, but there were many legal hurdles in this recruitment, due to which this recruitment was being cancelled. Therefore, the Congress government is fully responsible for the cancellation of these recruitments, he added.
Completely rejecting the allegations made regarding mining, Mr. Bains said that if any person gives evidence regarding me or my family’s involvement in mining, then he is ready to face all kinds of investigation. He said that even he was ready to undergo a narco test. He said that when I was the Minister of Mineral Resources, our state earned the highest revenue. He said the person Rakesh Chaudhary, who was involved in illegal mining, was also arrested by the AAP Government. The Minister also accused Bikram Singh Majithia for trying to people befool by holding a press conference with an advocate. Mr. Bains said that the water level was depleting day by day in his constituency thus they wanted that mining should be completely stopped.
