Fans finally have a reason to celebrate as filmmaker SS Rajamouli has officially confirmed the release date of his highly anticipated film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. The film is set to release in theatres on 7 April 2027.
The announcement comes after promotional hoardings appeared across Varanasi, displaying the release date with the tagline, “In theatres, 7 April 2027.” Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared images of the posters online, writing, “There’s tremendous speculation that master storyteller SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited biggie Varanasi is gearing up for a worldwide release on Wednesday, 7 April 2027.”

SS Rajamouli Announces Varanasi Release
Sharing the official poster on social media, SS Rajamouli simply wrote: “April 7th, 2027… VARANASI.” Actress Priyanka Chopra expressed her excitement by posting the poster, saying, “So much love and excitement for this.” Lead actor Mahesh Babu also shared the poster on his social handles.
In Varanasi, Mahesh Babu plays the character Rudra, while Priyanka Chopra portrays Mandakini, and Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Kumbha.
According to trade analysts, the release date has been strategically chosen. April 7, 2027, falls on a Wednesday coinciding with Ugadi and Gudi Padwa, followed by Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 and Ram Navami on April 15. This timing could ensure a long festive run at the box office.
