Aamir Khan’s decision to delay the OTT release of his latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, seems to be paying off handsomely at the box office.
Aamir Khan and Genelia D’Souza ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ seems to have struck the right chord of the audience. With just 5 days of release, the movie has crossed the Rs.70 crore mark and is inching towards 100 crore club at a steady pace. According to a report, on its first tuesday, “Sitaare Zameen Par” made a good bussiness, taking the total colection to of Movie in India to Rs.75 crore.
“Sitaare Zameen Par”, Aamir Khan’s much-awaited comeback as both actor and director, is set to release in December 2025, bringing with it the emotional depth and social sensitivity he’s known for. This spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par flips the narrative—instead of focusing on a child with special needs, the story now follows a group of differently-abled children who become the emotional anchors for a struggling young boy facing personal trauma.
Aamir Khan plays the role of a supportive mentor and counselor, navigating his own emotional wounds while guiding the children and the boy toward healing and self-belief. The film beautifully portrays how those we perceive as needing help often become the ones who heal others.
Interestingly, Aamir revealed that working on this film was one of the most emotionally challenging journeys of his career. After a break from acting and a tough personal phase following Laal Singh Chaddha, he poured his heart into this project, choosing a narrative that’s both socially relevant and deeply personal. With moments of laughter, resilience, and soul-stirring connection, “Sitaare Zameen Par” is not just a film—it’s a celebration of human spirit, empathy, and second chances.
Having crossed the Rs 50 crore threshold earlier this week, the film is now on track to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club by the weekend. Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par has already surpassed his last release Lal Singh Chaddha’s India collection which was Rs 61.36 crore.
