For the first time since becoming a father, Rajkummar Rao made an emotional appearance at an awards ceremony on Monday. His brief, heartfelt speech swiftly became one of the evening’s most treasured moments as Rao accepted an award on behalf of his wife, actress Patralekhaa, for her role in Phule.

The actor was clearly moved as he thanked Patralekhaa on her behalf. He recently welcomed his first child with her. Charming the audience with his warmth and sincerity, he also disclosed why he was unable to remain at the event for too long.

Rao discussed Patralekhaa’s lengthy journey and the few but significant roles she has played while accepting her prize. “I think Patralekhaa is an amazing actor, so thank you jury for considering her.” She didn’t have too many opportunities but everytime she got them, she has killed it – be it Phule, IC814, Citylights and many more,” he said, as quoted by Free Press Journal.

Then he revealed that his wife and their newborn daughter were waiting for him at the hospital, so he had to get out of there fast. With hearts instantly melting, he continued, “And now, of course, I have to go to the hospital where both my darlings are waiting for me.”

A couple celebrates their anniversary by welcoming a baby girl.

On November 15, Rajkummar and Patralekhaa declared the birth of their daughter. The day the couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary coincided with the birth of their daughter. “We are ecstatic.” They wrote, “The greatest blessing God has given us on our fourth wedding anniversary is that we have a baby girl.”
