PM Modi wishes Rajinikanth on his 75th birthday, celebrating his 50 years in cinema and enduring influence across generations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday conveyed his warmest birthday greetings to renowned superstar and legendary actor Rajinikanth on the occassion of his 75th birthday, acknowledging that his performances have inspired generations and garnered immense admiration.

PM Modi shared a message on the social media platform X, stating, “Greetings to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on the auspicious occasion of his 75th birthday.” His performances have enthralled audiences across generations and have garnered widespread admiration. His body of work encompasses a wide range of roles and disciplines, consistently establishing new standards.

This year has been significant as he marked his 50th anniversary in the film industry. He expressed his wishes for his long and healthy existence.

Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, widely recognized as Rajinikanth, is among the most prominent and influential actors in Indian cinema. His distinctive mannerisms, captivating screen presence, and unique style of dialogue delivery contributed significantly to his widespread popularity. In addition to his acting career, Rajinikanth has also made contributions as a screenwriter, producer, and playback performer.

Originally from Karnataka, Rajinikanth was employed as a bus conductor for the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation prior to his entry into the film industry. During this period, he actively engaged in theatrical performances to foster his interest in performing and enhance his skills.

Rajinikanth was born on December 12, 1950, to Ramoji Rao Gaekwad, a police constable, and Ramabai, a homemaker. He was wed to Latha Rangachari on February 26, 1981, in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The couple has two daughters, Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Soundarya Rajinikanth.

Rajinikanth commenced his acting career with the Tamil film ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ in 1975, which subsequently received three National Film Awards, including Best Tamil Feature Film. His second film, ‘Katha Sangama’ (1976), was an avant-garde production created in the new-wave style. From that moment onward, Rajinikanth remained unwavering in his progress. Films such as ‘Billa’ (1980), ‘Moondru Mugam’ (1982), and ‘Padikkadavan’ (1985) established his reputation as one of India’s most commercially successful actors. His capacity to transform even modest situations into memorable moments garnered him the title “Superstar,” a designation that continues to be associated with him decades later.

The 1990s represented the zenith of Rajinikanth’s cinematic prominence, exemplified by films such as ‘Annamalai’ (1992), ‘Baashha’ (1995), ‘Muthu’ (1995), and ‘Padayappa’ (1999). His depiction of Manikkam in ‘Baashha’ has become an enduring symbol within Indian popular culture. ‘Muthu’ attained exceptional success in Japan, exceeding the notoriety of numerous Western celebrities and broadening Rajinikanth’s global fan base.

Following an initial period of experimentation with ‘Baba’ in the early 2000s, he made a notable comeback with ‘Chandramukhi’ (2005), which achieved record-breaking success as a juggernaut. This was succeeded by ‘Sivaji’ (2007), the science fiction epic ‘Enthiran’ (2010), and its sequel ‘2.0’ (2018), each of which established new benchmarks for technical excellence in Indian cinema. With each project, Rajinikanth demonstrated that his star power could transform any release into a cinematic event celebrated by admirers worldwide.
