Bollywood mourns Dharmendra, who passed at 89. His final film Ikkis, a tribute to bravery, releases Dec 25 with a new emotional trailer.

Veteran actor Dharmendra died on November 24 at the age of 89, and Bollywood is in mourning. Known affectionately as the first “He-Man” of Indian cinema, the actor will now make his farewell appearance on the big screen in Ikkis, which is helmed by celebrated director Sriram Raghavan.

A new teaser for the movie was released on Monday, giving viewers a first look at Dharmendra in the crucial role of the father of Agastya Nanda’s character, 21-year-old Second Lieutenant PVC Arun Khetarpal. During the Battle of Basantar, Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra award in India, showed incredible bravery by fighting on even after enemy fire struck his tank.

Agastya Nanda, the grandson of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, is featured in the trailer as a young soldier who embodies the bravery and tenacity of the character. He appears on screen alongside well-known actor Jaideep Ahlawat and debutante Simar Bhatia, who is Akshay Kumar’s niece.

The filmmakers posted an eye-catching poster of Dharmendra with the slogan, “Fathers raise sons,” before the trailer was released. Nations are raised by legends. As the father of a 21-year-old immortal soldier, Dharmendra ji is a powerful emotional figure. We learn the tale of another from a timeless legend. Ikkis opens in theaters around the world on December 25, 2025.

The team said, “A father’s worst nightmare became a nation’s chance to dream again,” describing the film’s emotional heart. “Woh jo na sirf Hindustani, balki Pakistani fauj ke liye bhi misaal ban gaya.”

The passing of Dharmendra

Dharmendra, an 89-year-old veteran Bollywood icon and a titan of Hindi cinema, died Monday morning. The renowned actor passed away at home after recovering at his Juhu home after a severe health scare earlier this month. His family attended the closing ceremonies for his cremation, which took place at the Pawan Hans Crematory a few hours later.
