Aamir Khan recalls meeting Dharmendra with his son Azad, highlighting the late actor’s kindness, versatility, and lasting impact on Bollywood. Celebrities mourn Bollywood’s He-Man at 89.

Mumbai: When Aamir Khan took his son Azad to see renowned actor Dharmendra, he told a touching story.

The actor revealed that he had become close to Dharmendra, particularly in the latter year of his life, when speaking on the fringes of the 56th International Film Festival of India. According to Aamir, he had met him seven or eight times. He made the decision to take his son Azad along on one of these trips because he thought it was crucial that Azad meet the renowned actor, whose work he had not actually seen.

Aamir Khan said, “Well, I grew up watching him and I mean he was known as the action hero and the he-man,” in reference to Dharmendra. Naturally, he was very skilled at playing these powerful characters in action movies. He was excellent at it. However, I believe that he is underappreciated; I’m not sure if others have actually noticed. He has performed incredibly well in romance and other genres.

He does fantastic comedies, romances, and dramas, you know. Therefore, in my opinion, Dharamji was absolutely among our best actors. Thus, he has always been someone I truly admire.

“And I mean what a handsome person,” Aamir continued. Actually, I’m not in Bombay today, but regrettably, he has a prayer gathering today. I’m missing it. And I was really close to him since I must have met him seven or eight times in the last year. I used to go sit with him since I truly like his company. I once brought my kid Azad along with me. Since Azad hasn’t actually seen his work, I said, I want you to meet someone. However, Azad accompanied me, and we had a great time together for a few hours. Dharamji was a wonderful human guy in addition to being a superb performer, you know.

He was quite kind. He would always be incredibly kind and gentle when he met new individuals, regardless of whether they were coworkers or someone from outside the sector. Always. The actor from “3 Idiots” said, “He was a great actor and a wonderful person, and it’s a great loss for all of us.”

Several famous people attended Dharmendra’s burial, including Aamir Khan. Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Jeetendra, Sanjay Dutt, Abhay Deol, Shatrughan Sinha, and many other celebrities offered their sincere condolences.

At the age of 89, Dharmendra—fondly known as Bollywood’s He-Man—died on November 24.
