Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, participated in the prestigious Global Summit-2024 organized by the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya at Mount Abu, Rajasthan, on Saturday. The event, which attracted spiritual leaders and scholars from around the globe, served as a platform for discussions on the role of spirituality in building a cleaner, healthier, and more harmonious society.
In his address, Chief Minister Dhami extended a warm welcome to the attendees, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the summit. He lauded the efforts of the Brahma Kumaris in promoting peace, harmony, and spiritual growth worldwide. “It is a privilege to be part of this global conference, which brings together individuals dedicated to the betterment of humanity,” he remarked.
Uttarakhand: Land of Spirituality and Natural Beauty
Dhami spoke at length about his home state, Uttarakhand, often referred to as Devbhoomi (Land of the Gods). He highlighted the unique spiritual and natural beauty of the state, which draws millions of visitors from around the world in search of inner peace and self-discovery.
“Uttarakhand is blessed with divine beauty, where nature and spirituality blend seamlessly. From the majestic snow-capped peaks to sacred rivers, every corner of Devbhoomi is imbued with a sense of divine presence,” said Dhami. He added that the state offers countless opportunities for individuals to engage in meditation and spiritual practice, fostering personal growth and enlightenment.
Dhami emphasized the universal appeal of Devbhoomi’s sacred sites, noting that people often ask him how many famous places or Devasthanas (temples) exist in Uttarakhand. “My only answer is that every place in Devbhoomi is sacred. Our mountains, forests, rivers, and glaciers are all imbued with divine energy. It is truly a land where people come to reconnect with their inner selves,” he said.
The Chief Minister’s Spiritual Connection with Mount Abu
Expressing his personal connection to the Brahma Kumaris and Mount Abu, Dhami shared that he had attended numerous programs organized by the institution over the years. He revealed that he had long desired to visit Mount Abu, describing the experience as one of profound spiritual peace.
“Today, I have come to this sacred place as a seeker of spiritual wisdom. The immense blessings of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, combined with the affection I’ve received from Raja Yogini Didi Maa Ratan Mohini, have drawn me here. I feel a deep sense of peace within myself,” Dhami shared. He also acknowledged the Brahma Kumaris for their role in spreading messages of peace and unity across the globe, noting that the organization’s consultative status with the United Nations is a testament to its global impact.
Spirituality as a Pillar of a Clean and Healthy Society
During his speech, Dhami reflected on the important role spirituality plays in building a clean, healthy, and harmonious society. He emphasized that while modern methods and laws are essential, true societal transformation can only be achieved by incorporating spiritual values into daily life.
“The concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which translates to ‘the world is one family,’ is at the heart of Indian philosophy. This message of mutual brotherhood remains as relevant today as ever. Just as technology enhances our material comfort, spirituality enriches our inner peace, creating a balance between body, mind, and soul,” he said.
Dhami commended the Brahma Kumaris for their efforts to simplify complex spiritual concepts and make them accessible to the common person. He noted that the organization’s teachings have helped millions of people find balance and clarity in their lives. “I have personally experienced the transformative power of spirituality in my own life. It cleanses the mind and strengthens one’s ability to withstand both physical and mental pressures,” he remarked.
Building a Better Society Through Spiritual Values
Concluding his address, Dhami stressed that spirituality is not just an option but a necessity for human life. He reiterated that incorporating spiritual values into society is essential for fostering peace, harmony, and resilience. “A clean and healthy society cannot be achieved through modern methods and laws alone. It requires the integration of spiritual principles,” he said.
The event was also attended by several prominent figures, including Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of Railways and Food Processing Industries, Mahendra Bhatt, Member of Parliament from Uttarakhand, and Ravi Kishan, Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur. Together, the attendees reflected on the significant role of spirituality in promoting global peace and unity.
