CM Mann Calls for Righteousness and Brotherhood to Restore Punjab’s Harmony
Amritsar – During the grand Dussehra celebration in Amritsar, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann made an earnest appeal to the people of the state to follow the path of righteousness and unity. His call came on this auspicious festival, which symbolizes the triumph of good over evil, urging the citizens of Punjab to work towards eliminating the social evils that have plagued the state.
Speaking at the Dussehra ground in Amritsar, CM Mann reminded the gathered crowd of the moral lessons Dussehra teaches. “This festival is a powerful reminder of the importance of controlling our anger, avoiding hatred, and staying grounded. These were the very qualities that led to the downfall of even the most intelligent figure from our mythology, the demon king Ravana,” Mann said. He emphasized that these lessons should guide people in their daily lives, inspiring them to uphold unity, peace, and brotherhood.
The Chief Minister underlined the significance of celebrating Dussehra with a sense of collective responsibility. He called upon the people to recognize the symbolic victory of good over evil not just as a festive ritual, but as a call to action in eradicating social problems. “We must rid our society of the many social maladies it faces, whether it be intolerance, violence, or injustice,” said Mann. “Only by doing this can we restore the state to its former glory and ensure a brighter future for the coming generations.”
Mann went on to say that the rich cultural heritage of India has always placed immense importance on festivals like Dussehra, which play a crucial role in fostering communal harmony and peace. He reflected on how the festival has been celebrated for centuries across the country, promoting values of goodwill, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among all communities. “Our nation’s tradition of celebrating Dussehra is not just about the burning of Ravana, but about the larger message of living an ideal life and building a just and harmonious society,” he said.
The Chief Minister stressed that the current times call for unity and a collective effort to overcome social challenges. He urged citizens to set aside differences of caste, creed, and color, and come together to celebrate Dussehra with religious fervor and joy. “We must rise above narrow divisions and celebrate this festival with the spirit of oneness. On this day, let’s pledge to make Punjab a frontrunner state in India by eradicating all social ills that are holding us back,” Mann appealed.
Touching on the deeper essence of Dussehra, CM Mann stated that the festival is a reminder that the true battle is against injustice, hate, and ego. He said, “The lesson of Dussehra is that we must fight evil not with more evil, but with love, understanding, and secularism. Only by following this path of righteousness can we hope to create a society that is truly egalitarian and inclusive.”
As the festivities continued, Mann reiterated that the teachings of Dussehra should be a guiding light for all, especially in fostering brotherhood and peace. He concluded his address by calling for a renewed commitment to communal harmony in the state, saying, “This Dussehra, let’s not just celebrate the victory of good over evil on the field, but let’s also strive to win the battle against social evils in our daily lives.”
Punjab, with its long-standing tradition of inclusivity and community spirit, can once again become a beacon of unity and progress if its people come together to address the social challenges head-on. With Dussehra as a symbol of hope, CM Mann’s message serves as a powerful reminder of the need to maintain peace, strengthen bonds, and work towards a harmonious society.
