Punjab Govt Launches ₹31.14 Cr Road Project in Ludhiana to Strengthen Urban Infrastructure
Chandigarh/Ludhiana, April 8, 2025 – In a major stride toward developing world-class infrastructure in Punjab, the state government is all set to commence work on a ₹31.14 crore road project in Ludhiana on Wednesday. This ambitious project includes the construction of a 200-foot-wide road from Malerkotla Road to Sidhwan Canal Lohara Bridge, significantly improving regional connectivity and easing traffic congestion.
Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian will lay the foundation stones for two critical road infrastructure projects aimed at uplifting transportation facilities and fulfilling long-pending demands of the local population.

- Stretch Length: 1.7 kilometers
- Road Width: 200 feet
- Scope of Work:
- Bituminous road construction
- Public health infrastructure

- Electrical lighting and medians for improved traffic management
- Timeline: To be completed within one year
- Maintenance Plan: Five-year maintenance included in the project contract
Minister Mundian emphasized that this project, part of Missing Link-2 (Part-C), will act as a game-changer by providing smoother access and spurring economic activity in Sidhwan Canal Lohara and surrounding areas.
“This road will ease traffic movement and provide much-needed relief to daily commuters while fostering economic development,” Mundian noted during a press briefing.
- Special Repair of Link Road from GT Road to Khasi Kalan via Tajpur to Dhanansu (₹3.31 Cr)
- Length: 3.85 kilometers
- Purpose: Special repair to restore functionality of a heavily-used commuter corridor
- Beneficiaries: Residents around Tajpur Road and nearby villages
This road has been a long-standing demand of the public, and its restoration is expected to greatly enhance travel experience and logistics efficiency in Ludhiana’s industrial zones.
