CHANDIGARH — As preparations gear up for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections Goldy likely AAP Kharar nominee after receiving a key organizational promotion. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officially appointed Parminder Singh Goldy as the new Halka (constituency) in-charge for Kharar.
Party State In-charge Manish Sisodia and State President Aman Arora authorized Goldy’s transition. Furthermore, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently shared the stage with Goldy during a Lok Milni public meeting in Tira village near Kharar.

Transitioning Leadership in the Kharar Constituency
The Kharar seat is currently represented by Punjabi singer-turned-politician Anmol Gagan Maan. She won the 2022 assembly elections with a majority of 37,885 votes.

However, her political role experienced changes over the past two years. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann dropped her from the state cabinet in September 2024. Later, in July 2025, she offered her resignation as MLA and announced an exit from active politics. Although AAP leadership rejected her resignation, the new assignment indicates that for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections Goldy likely AAP Kharar nominee.

Student Politics Background to Constituency Leadership
Parminder Singh Goldy built his political foundation through university student union elections. He started his student journey at Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, Chandigarh.
Later, in 2006, he won the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) presidential election representing the Panjab University Students Union (PUSU). He joined AAP in 2013 and became the state president of its student wing, CYSS, in 2015.
Goldy expressed gratitude toward AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Manish Sisodia, and Aman Arora. He promised to strengthen local organizational units and work directly for Kharar residents. Consequently, political analysts agree that for the Punjab assembly elections Goldy likely AAP Kharar nominee.
