Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chairperson of the Mission Steering Group (MSG), Jagat Prakash Nadda, chaired the third meeting of the Mission Steering Group to review the progress of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and discuss strategies to further strengthen India’s digital healthcare ecosystem.
The meeting, organised to evaluate the achievements and future direction of the mission, focused on expanding digital health services, improving accessibility, and ensuring secure, citizen-centric healthcare solutions across the country.
ABDM Emerges as One of World’s Largest Digital Health Ecosystems
During the meeting, the Mission Steering Group reviewed the progress of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and highlighted its significant expansion across healthcare facilities, professionals, and citizens.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, ABDM has created more than 93.95 crore ABHA numbers, linked 105 crore health records, and registered 5.33 lakh health facilities along with 9.85 lakh healthcare professionals on national digital health registries.
The mission has also enabled over 2.72 lakh healthcare facilities to adopt ABDM-enabled software and facilitated around 24 crore Scan & Register tokens for faster outpatient registration.
JP Nadda Highlights Role of Digital Technology in Healthcare
Addressing the meeting, JP Nadda emphasised that digital public infrastructure has become a powerful tool for improving healthcare access, ensuring continuity of care, and empowering citizens through secure and consent-based access to medical records.
He said technology must continue to support the goal of Universal Health Coverage while ensuring that healthcare services remain inclusive, accessible, and easy to use for every citizen.

Focus on Expanding Digital Health Adoption
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission meeting also reviewed steps taken after previous decisions, including capacity building, strengthening state-level implementation, integration with government health programmes, and increasing participation of private healthcare providers.
The Mission Steering Group discussed measures to accelerate ABDM adoption across states and Union Territories, improve interoperability, promote digital health standards, and enhance citizen convenience through seamless healthcare services.
Future Roadmap Includes AI and Advanced Healthcare Technologies
The future roadmap of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission will focus on scaling up digital healthcare adoption, using emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, strengthening institutional capacity, and improving collaboration between the Centre, states, and other stakeholders.
The meeting also highlighted ABDM’s integration with major health programmes including Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, CGHS, ESIC, and Nikshay, helping create a more connected and efficient healthcare delivery system.
Digital Health Mission to Support Viksit Bharat Vision
Concluding the meeting, JP Nadda stated that while India has developed a strong digital health infrastructure under ABDM, the next phase will focus on increasing its adoption and effective utilisation nationwide.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission is expected to play a crucial role in building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready healthcare ecosystem as India moves towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
