Punjab government provides ₹16.74 crore assistance to 3,282 beneficiaries under Ashirwad Yojana

Chandigarh, India:  The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, continues its social welfare efforts through the Ashirwad Yojana, aimed at supporting the daughters of economically weaker families for marriage assistance.

Social Welfare Minister Baljit Kaur shared that under the scheme, the government has disbursed ₹16.74 crore to 3,282 beneficiaries during the financial year 2026–27, highlighting the state’s commitment to social security and women empowerment.

Financial Assistance Under Ashirwad Yojana

The Ashirwad scheme provides financial support of ₹51,000 for the marriage of each eligible beneficiary daughter from needy families. The initiative is designed to reduce financial burden on low-income households and ensure dignity in marriage-related expenses.

Officials stated that the Ashirwad Yojana has become a key welfare measure in Punjab’s social support system, directly benefiting thousands of families every year.
