India A vs Sri Lanka A once again grabbed attention as young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi came into the spotlight during the third match of the Tri-Nation Series on Monday, June 15, in Dambulla. The India A vs Sri Lanka A encounter saw Suryavanshi fail to convert his start into a big score, as India A batted first after losing the toss.

The India A vs Sri Lanka A match began with India being asked to set a target by Sri Lanka captain Sahan Arachchige, who believed that anything around 260–270 would be competitive at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. India A skipper Tilak Varma also admitted he would have preferred to bowl first, highlighting the importance of a strong total in these conditions.

Suryavanshi shows intent but fails to convert

In the India A vs Sri Lanka A clash, Vaibhav Suryavanshi started aggressively, hitting early boundaries and looking in fine touch. The 15-year-old struck Chamika Gunasekara for two fours and a six in the second over, showing his natural attacking style.

However, his innings ended on 21 runs off 14 balls when he mistimed a shot off Sahan Arachchige and was caught at cover. India A were left at 29/1 in the early phase of the India A vs Sri Lanka A match.

Promise followed by disappointment
