Imphal: A tragic Manipur Village Attack claimed the lives of three people, including a woman, after armed assailants allegedly targeted a village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district in the early hours of Friday. The incident has raised fresh concerns over security in the violence-affected region.
According to officials, the Manipur Village Attack took place around 4 a.m. in Loibol Khulen village under the Saikul-Gamphazol subdivision of Kangpokpi district. During the assault, several rounds of gunfire were exchanged between rival groups, resulting in casualties and significant property damage.
Three People Killed in Early-Morning Assault
Authorities said three villagers lost their lives during the Manipur Village Attack. The deceased have been identified as Letkhongam Haokip, Tinmari Haokip, and Jangminlal Haokip.
Officials reported that intense firing continued for several minutes, forcing residents to flee their homes and seek safety in nearby forest areas. The sudden outbreak of violence created panic among villagers, many of whom escaped with only essential belongings.
Seven Houses Destroyed in Fire
In addition to the fatalities, at least seven houses were reportedly reduced to ashes after fires broke out during the attack. The destruction has left several families displaced and facing uncertainty about their future.
Local authorities have begun assessing the extent of the damage caused by the Manipur Village Attack, while security forces have intensified vigilance in the area.

Deputy Chief Minister Condemns Incident
Reacting to the incident, Nemcha Kipgen strongly condemned the killings and assured that those responsible would face legal action.
In a statement, the Deputy Chief Minister described the murder of innocent civilians and the burning of homes as a tragic and unacceptable act. She expressed condolences to the bereaved families and reiterated that the safety and security of citizens remain a top priority for the government.
Kipgen also appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid falling prey to attempts aimed at creating fear and division within communities.
Kuki Inpi Manipur Demands Justice
The incident was also condemned by Kuki Inpi Manipur, a leading organization representing Kuki tribal communities in the state.
The organization described the Manipur Village Attack as an act of brutal violence against unarmed civilians and called for the immediate identification and arrest of those responsible. It emphasized that attacks on innocent people and the destruction of homes constitute serious violations of human rights and human dignity.
Investigation Underway
Security agencies have launched an investigation into the Manipur Village Attack to determine the identities of the attackers and the circumstances surrounding the violence. Additional security measures have reportedly been put in place to prevent further escalation in the region.
As authorities continue their probe, the Manipur Village Attack has once again highlighted the fragile security situation in parts of the state and the urgent need for sustained peace and stability in affected areas.
