The AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony was addressed by Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda, who congratulated graduating students and praised the institute’s growing contribution to healthcare, medical education and research in the region.
The event marked the 2nd Convocation of AIIMS Bathinda, celebrating the academic achievements of students and the institute’s expanding role in strengthening India’s healthcare ecosystem.
J.P. Nadda Congratulates Graduating Students
During the AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony, J.P. Nadda congratulated students for completing their academic journey and described the occasion as a proud moment for students, faculty and parents. He highlighted the institute’s rapid growth and its rising importance in tertiary healthcare services.
He noted that AIIMS Bathinda currently handles nearly 3,000 OPD patients and around 600 IPD patients daily, reflecting its strong healthcare delivery system.
AIIMS Bathinda’s Expanding Healthcare Services Praised
Addressing the AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony, the Union Health Minister appreciated the institute’s community outreach programs, including regular Ayushman health camps across nearby villages. These initiatives focus on screening for diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
He also highlighted telemedicine services, mobile medical units and rural awareness programs, stating that AIIMS Bathinda is contributing significantly beyond hospital-based care.

Focus on National Healthcare Reforms
At the AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony, J.P. Nadda emphasized India’s shift from a curative healthcare model to a comprehensive system covering preventive, promotive and rehabilitative care under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He mentioned that over 1.82 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are now functioning as primary healthcare access points across the country, strengthening the healthcare delivery network.
Expansion of Medical Education and Infrastructure
Speaking at the AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony, the minister highlighted major expansion in India’s medical education sector. He noted that the number of AIIMS institutions has increased, along with a significant rise in medical colleges and available MBBS and postgraduate seats over the past decade.
He also stated that the government is committed to further increasing medical seats to meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals.
Inauguration of Advanced Medical Facilities at AIIMS Bathinda
On the occasion of the AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony, J.P. Nadda inaugurated several advanced healthcare facilities, including a PET-CT unit, a high-energy linear accelerator for cancer treatment, a Burns ICU, and a Child Development and Early Intervention Centre.
He also inaugurated a Gymnasium and Wellness Centre aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being among students and staff, further strengthening the institute’s holistic healthcare environment.

During the AIIMS Bathinda Convocation Ceremony, officials reaffirmed the institute’s growing role as a regional healthcare hub, focusing on patient care, medical innovation and research. The leadership emphasized the importance of combining technology with compassion in healthcare delivery.
