New Delhi: The Centre has intensified border management measures following a high-level Amit Shah border district security review held in Bikaner, Rajasthan, focusing on illegal constructions, financial monitoring, and coordinated security operations across India-Pakistan border districts.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the meeting with senior officials from Rajasthan and district administrations of border areas including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar and Phalodi.
Crackdown on Illegal Constructions Near Border Areas
A key outcome of the Amit Shah border district security review was the directive to enforce strict action against illegal constructions within 15 km of sensitive border zones. Authorities have been instructed to identify and demolish unauthorized structures that may pose security risks or support unlawful activities.
Officials said the move aims to prevent encroachment, infiltration support systems, and misuse of land near strategic locations.
Financial Surveillance and Security Tightening
During the Amit Shah border district security review, district magistrates were given expanded responsibilities to monitor banking transactions, identify suspicious financial activity, and track mule accounts, fake companies, and forged identity documents.
The government also emphasized verification of large business establishments operating in border districts to curb illegal funding networks and cross-border financial crimes.
Coordinated Security Framework in Border Districts
The meeting focused on building a 360-degree security framework involving central agencies, state police, and local administration. Officials from BSF, NCB, and CBDT were directed to work in close coordination to counter smuggling, drug trafficking, and infiltration threats.

Cybercrime Control and Follow-Up Action

The meeting concluded with instructions that a follow-up assessment will be conducted after two months to review progress and ensure accountability.
