The record-breaking moment came when Sooryavanshi completed his second run off a delivery from Will Jacks. With that, he surpassed the previous teenage T20 record held by Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal later impressed in the IPL, scoring 473 runs in the 2020 season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, including a century. He later returned to the franchise in the 2025 auction.
Another young performer, Tilak Varma, also featured among top teenage IPL stars after scoring 397 runs in IPL 2022 for Mumbai Indians.
