The India Meteorological Department has issued an IMD rain alert across several parts of the country, warning of deteriorating weather conditions between May 2 and May 4. States including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan are expected to witness heavy rainfall along with strong winds reaching speeds of 70–75 km/h.
Under the ongoing IMD rain alert, Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. The weather department has also cautioned that conditions may intensify further.
Delhi to Witness Heavy Rainfall
In Delhi, the IMD rain alert has been issued for May 4 and 5, with forecasts predicting heavy rain and winds of 40–50 km/h. The city is expected to record a maximum temperature of 37°C and a minimum of 26°C.

Uttar Pradesh on Storm Alert
Several districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Aligarh, Agra, Varanasi, and Saharanpur, are under IMD rain alert for May 4. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected, while Lucknow may record temperatures between 34°C and 24°C.
Bihar to Receive Intense Showers
Neighbouring Bihar is also under IMD rain alert, with districts like Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur expected to witness heavy rainfall along with winds of 40–50 km/h. Patna’s temperature is likely to range between 31°C and 23°C.
Rajasthan and Uttarakhand Under Watch
In Rajasthan, districts such as Jodhpur, Sikar, and Barmer are expected to see thunderstorms and rain. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand remains under IMD rain alert, particularly in Nainital, Pithoragarh, and Haridwar, with wind speeds of 30–40 km/h. Dehradun is expected to record temperatures between 29°C and 21°C.
