In a significant development on Labour Day, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Sond stated that the present government is taking major steps toward improving labour welfare, marking a historic shift with the workers wage hike in Punjab agenda being actively pushed in the Vidhan Sabha.
Addressing the special session of the Punjab Assembly, he said that after 69 years and 14 governments, the state is finally witnessing meaningful attention toward labour rights, with the workers wage hike in Punjab becoming a central policy focus of the Mann government.

During his address, Tarunpreet Sond formally presented a proposal in the House to increase the minimum wage of workers. He emphasized that the workers wage hike in Punjab initiative is aimed at improving the financial stability of labourers and ensuring they receive fair compensation for their efforts.
