In a sharp political attack on the central government, Punjab Cabinet Minister and MLA Harpal Singh Cheema alleged that the BJP has broken its promise made before elections in four states regarding LPG prices. He said that the recent commercial gas cylinder price hike of ₹994 has severely impacted the industry and common people.
Harpal Cheema stated that before the elections, the BJP-led central government had assured that there would be no increase in gas cylinder prices. However, the recent decision of a commercial gas cylinder price hike has, according to him, directly affected hardworking citizens and small businesses across the country.

Commercial Gas Cylinder Price Hike Burdens Industry and Working Class
He further added that the commercial gas cylinder price hike is a major setback for the industrial sector, especially for those dependent on commercial LPG cylinders for daily operations. The decision, he said, reflects a burden being placed on the poor and working class instead of providing relief.

The minister criticized the government, saying that the commercial gas cylinder price hike exposes the gap between election promises and ground reality. He claimed that such policies are weakening small traders, hotel operators, and labour-intensive industries.
Reiterating his stand, Harpal Cheema said that the commercial gas cylinder price hike is not just an economic issue but a direct attack on the livelihoods of hardworking people, and demanded immediate reconsideration of the decision.
